Intentional Perception

By Dr. Jesse Ritter

Do you believe you can control how you perceive an obstacle in your life?

I do.

2023 may be a challenging year. The immense sovereign debt bubble combined with social/political, technological and monetary cycles all overlapping simultaneously will likely lead to volatile times in the coming years.

How will you perceive this volatility?

vol·a·til·i·ty - "liability to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse."

Will you choose to perceive yourself as a victim of macro factors and throw up your hands in helplessness? Or, will you educate yourself, seek opportunities and act decisively?

James Clear in his book The Obstacle Is The Way says it best:

"Where one person sees a crisis, another can see opportunity. Where one loses control of emotions, another can remain calm. Desperation, despair, fear, powerlessness - these reactions are functions of our perceptions. You must realize: Nothing makes us feel this way; we choose to give in to such feelings."

Wait for it...here comes the segway into dental... :)

Are you someone who looks at challenges you're having with your teeth and feels desperation, despair, fear and powerlessness?

Do you have perceptions such as:

  • "How can I possibly do anything about my teeth?"
  • "I can't possibly afford the work I need"
  • "I'm too scared to get the work done that I'm sure I need"
  • "I'm embarrassed to ask Dr. Ritter for help."
  • "I don't want to be disappointed when they tell me they can't give me what I want."
  • "I feel too vulnerable and weak if I admit that I don't like my teeth."

Those perceptions are a choice.

What if you took these perceived obstacles and intentionally flipped them on their head?

Here are a few truths as it relates to these perceptions:

  • It takes courage to ask for help. It's not weakness.
  • It proves that you are a brave person when you are fearful of something and take action anyway.
  • Allowing yourself to be vulnerable is the only way you can fall in love. Understand that we love and care for you and can help guide you through the process of getting the health and smile you deserve.
  • What you want for your teeth IS POSSIBLE. It would blow your mind what is possible.

A lot of times it's not the new smile that changes a person. It's the massive up-level in self-esteem from having the courage do what is necessary to have the life that they want.

When you combine that with the realization that, with intention, their perception of "challenges" or "objections" they had to doing what was necessary can be changed, their entire world changes. No longer do they move forward with regret or fear. They are transformed into their best version of themselves and never look back.

Cheers to your intentional perception driving the next opportunity for you in your life.

Let's go 2023!
